In this article I will show you the capabilities of a 300mW NEJE laser. After just a glance on this machine I came up with several things to make with it. The price was appealing, so I decided to give it a try.
In about a month I received a carefully packed parcel.
The seller had securely fixed all moving parts and cables with the tape.
The acrylic body is solid, the whole device weighs about a kilogram.
Special goggles, hex wrench, 1GB memory card with software were in the box. In addition to what was mentioned above, I found a universal power supply from XIAOMI:)
Now let's examine the device itself in detail. The laser head is surrounded by a massive heatsink and yes - Chinese manufacturers like hot glue. Moreover the moving parts seem to come a CD-drive, which is not bad at the end, as technology is reliable.
Overall visual impression is positive. I would even dare to call this design “smart” as it seems to be solid and simple. Let’s now do some tests.
Laser at work
The software is quite simple. Mainly you can edit the picture brightness and the burning time.
Max. image size is 512x512 pix. on 38x38 mm. Especially in case of plastic you should think about a proper ventilation.
For leather engraving 300mW is quite a lot. Be careful, thin things can be burnt through.
However, cutting with this power is limited. I would recommend a newer NEJE model with 1000mW laser that would cope with 2mm acrylic and plywood.
The device is compact and nice looking and I would not call it a toy. NEJE inherits reliable mechanisms of the CD-drives, bringing a 0.1 mm accuracy on your table.
Moreover the latest model features a 1000mW laser allowing you to work with various materials. Most probably I will order a 1000mW head to upgrade my own device.
The main limitation here is the working area. And again it originates from the CD-drives:) On the other hand such design makes NEJE way cheaper than its big brothers.
All in all NEJE is worth those 90$ you will pay for it.
